Inteview of Sukriti in Bombay Times Newspaper

SUKIRTI"S INTERVIEW IN TODAY"S BOMBAY TIMES NEWSPAPER ::::

Sukirti Khandpal who took over the mantle of Dr Ridhima in Dill Mill Gaye from actress Shilpa Anand, is all smiles these days.

Ask her how it all happened and a very chirpy and excited Sukirti gushes, “Dill Mill Gaye happened a week back. I was already a part of the production, playing a role in Jersey No.10. I learnt that they were looking out for a replacement for Dr Ridhima’s character since Shilpa was quitting the show. I went ahead for the look test and the rest, as they say, is history!”

Replacing a character, who has been well accepted by the audience, is never easy. But Sukirti has a different take on this. “I look at this as a new role rather than as a replacement thing. I know it’s difficult for the audience to accept a new person in a particular role played by somebody else. But I’ll give it my best shot and hope the audience accepts and appreciates me as well,” she says.
Incidentally, this was one of the shows she regularly watched. “I’ve been an ardent viewer of the show as it used to come before my own. But little did I know that one day I would be part of it and that too playing the central character!

It has come as a big responsibility and I hope I live up to it!”Sukirti’s surely a TV serial buff. “I remember when Mihir’s character was killed in Kyunki... I actually cried!” she recounts. “Later there was a new face. Initially it was difficult as we kept comparing the new one to the old, but slowly the new one grew on us and we actually started thinking that he was perfect for the role,” she says.
Meanwhile, she’s getting accustomed to the new set up. “My co-actors have been really sweet to me especially Karan, who plays Dr Armaan. My first shot for the show was with him and he made me so comfortable; we had an immediate chemistry working there.”

A REQUEST...THE CALL & AN APPEAL BY SANJU

A Very Exceptional, A Very Warm Hearted & Chock-a-Block benevolence Hi to each and every one of DMG cute Friends, beautiful Sisters & handsome Brothers!!!

My Heartfelt apologies to every part of you in DMG family unit for not being here when you all hunted for me to be… I am back home after punishing time from my atrocious illness, the dreadful treatment, the prolonged recovery and now in front of my PC to start my positive life with all of you; from the curvature where it was last left…

When I began to read the posts from where I had after everything else left; initially was happy reading the notes but soon after SBS/Aajtak flash of our dear Pu leaving the show reached my acquaintances here and the comment war that was chosen up consequently; brought in me additional twinge that what all I had said on a day before post (19th May episode) and all I had been in past lettering, pushing aside my forty winks, my priorities, my positive doses, my happy moments in reading your feedback etc… I was at that very jiffy seemed like had drained in a water.

It was like Post Independence Partition violence between India Pakistan that then had cast a shadow on the ecstasy of freedom and abundant sacrifices to get us August 15th, 1947…

As the time stepped forward I found the crack in our forum looked as if to be escalating by every link posted and then catalysts were some copy paste interviews of former star, existing stars, creatives, channel producers etc. I also found many members bringing on comments pasted here copied from other forums … All of a sudden birth of many anonymous friends and I remembered in our school Hindi madam having taught us “Naana Muni, Naana Mati” meaning “Jitnay Nar utni budhi”……. Straightforward English it means “Many Men… Many Minds”.

I had left a evergreen tree with logic form of birds building the nest; all after a sheer hard work for which I had so lovingly planted to survive from a positive seed, optimistic soil, constructive water, productive manure and that has also set in motion to give wisdom filled fruits and now I see a tree mere branches left, leaves are turning dry, snakes dwelling at the trunk, birds have flown away and some left are planning to, few left are returning not to stay but seeing from their flight if balance lot have survived or rather want to witness as I also see that silently from the corner a woodcutter is eyeing the tree and if we do not unite now AT THIS MOMENT, he will chop down the tree leaving all of us without shelter and coming monsoon I do not want to lose my safe haven, DO YOU??

Where are all the friendship commitments gone that I had a vision for??

Extract from my first part of my last post which I anticipated in need of time when Pu will be saying her FINAL GOODBYE to her co stars plus all of us her fans, that can be now read in Blog Archives posted under May 19th, 2008 Episode Videos.

SALUTATIONS TO ALL OF YOU IN YOURs AND OURs JOINT LAND OF DILL MILL GAYEE:

Here not just hearts but everything else will meet and my guarantee is that no one will feel lonesome here, all will be treated at equal platform, we will be there to share not only analyze episodes, behind the scene gossips, future predictions, pictures, songs, remixes etc but also discuss individual success, failures, happiness, sadness, good times, bad times, birthdays, anniversaries, exams, results, vacations, movies, books, subjects, personal opinions, interests, hobbies etc.

Just feel free to question your doubts, anxieties, problems of any kind, because I feel once you’re doubt free from mind only then you can think positive for future part of DMG episodes but more important also in your life ahead and become successful in any field you represent and make us all proud of you as well as not to forget your parents and other members linked closely with you.

I have evidently solicited you to without restraint question your doubts, anxieties, problems of any kind but I found on my homecoming that you all in reality begin to without self-control laid blame on each other opinion, every one set in motion to show everyone how superior he or she was from the other, there was open condemn of forum friends, there was open mudding of real actor/former actress of DMG we all once loved, and now you all are fighting for looks, chemistry of new actress of our all time favourite serial. I am ashamed that even friends whom I thought will carry the flag post in my absence effectively; were found arguing or rather giving justifications on their stance, some having left to post comments by telling us goodbye, some having quitted and decided not to watch DMG, some planning to quit soon, forecast in drop of TRP etc.

I INFACT HAD GIVEN YOU ALL GIVEN VERY HINT IN ONE OF MY PAST POSTS THAT CAN BE STILL SEEN UNDER BLOG ARCHIVES FOR MAY 1 ST, 2008 EPISODE VIDEOS I.E. A FRESH DAY OF THE FRESH MONTH EPISODE AND IN MY PROPHECY I HAD INTUTION THAT IN SAME MONTH SOME UNEXPECTED WAS GOING TO HAPPEN..WHICH WE ALL KNOW BY NOW ON WHAT HAD HAPPENED ACTUALLY ON MAY 20 TH, 2008.

Sun is firm but it is our globe that’s rotating/revolving, there may be cast a shadow case due to the eclipse; however gloominess does not last long and soon post eclipse, we will find the Sun flash on Earth and THEN EVERYTHING seems to be more vivacious & Earth looking more vibrant.

Please … as I had said before too that creatives are here for interpretation OF our forums silently; more so after Pu has left; but if you all do not stop your arguments now then soon I will be forced to write … “Duvidha mein dono gayye, Maaya milli Na Raam.”

I understand that we have OUR sentiments attached; many for Karan and many for Shilpa too; but in our forums we had always discussed AR, can anyone recall of commenting KS (Karan & Shilpa); only it happened; (the comments) when the pics showed Karan/Shraddha/Shilpa and SBS segment of the Real Armaan of Riddhima & vice versa somewhere during March end (when we all were busy in speculations of Holi episode) that SBS segment caused further wounds for Pu to call it quits from DMG..Remember her having said of requesting them 2 months notice to relieve her 2 months prior to contract of 1 year.

I WILL NOT BE ABLE COMMENT NOR WILL I GET MOTIVATION TO PUT PEN ON PAPER FOR EPISODES AFTER PU DEPARTURE AND SU ARRIVAL, MY FRIENDSHIP COLUMNS, MY LOGICS, MY WISDOMS ETC… ALL WILL GO FAIL :-(

Unless… I get supported efforts witnessed from all of us here to water the dry tree once again, shoo away the poisonous snakes, let the green leaves cover and polish yet once more all around the branches, let the forum be back at a state where I had last left it, let everyone say SORRY to their forum friends whom they knowing unknowingly have hurled accusations, played each other with the blame game, let all the friends who have left, return back to their nests here, let us pledge that let this forum be first one to bury all the hatchets and first one to have accepted the fact that “Beeti taahi Bisaar de, aage ki Suddhi layi.” (Let bygones be bygones) :-)

DMG weekend will be here and I am sure that before start of Monday installment of DMG; I want to see not the efforts but the results that you gather not in ones or twos but all of you come together in one common platform and I am sure if I in past posts have helped even a fraction of positivism in your life; you all will come and give your harmony in my statement.

All the friends who love new Su have already accepted her in their hearts & All who still have Pu in their mind that she will be back soon or want her to be back, finally also not to forget all the associates who still love old Pu but yet practically giving some time to Su for her coming in terms of Pu as looks, act or Chemistry; always commit to memory one thing …

Shilpa Finally Breaks her Silence

Shilpa Anand finally breaks her silence on her exit from Dill Mill Gayye. The actress who played Dr Riddhima the pop medical romance, says she quit to switch to films. She has already done one, Ikraar

There were rumours that she bid farewell because co-star Karan Singh was getting all
the attention. Anand laughs this off "Tell me, When does a cast member ever leave a show on good terms?"

No Invite
Why wasn't she at the press conference which announced the entry of her replacement. Sukriti Khandpal? Anand says its because the producers wanted to focus on the new Riddhima.

Probe a little and she lashes out. “Forget inviting me the press meet, they didn't even give me a farewell party.That's how they thank someone who gave their show such a boost."

Anand has complaints about the working condition, the far off sets and problems with taking days off`. Her co-stars would feign illness and bunk. Turns out the pay wasn't all that good either.

Glam quotient
coming back to Anand's film dreams, do telly stars ever make it big at the movies?
Agreed most don't, but Anand says that the other actresses don't get out their saas-bahu moulds...and aren't glamorous. "But I am not at all like Dr. Riddhima," she smiles.

Chocolate boy Dr. Armaan aka Karan Singh Grover talks about Sukriti Khandpal as Dr.Riddhima and also gets nostalgic when asked about Shilpa Anand and shares some of his past experiences right here...

The handsome hunk Karan Singh Grover has carved a name for himself in the viewers’ heart playing the very hip-hop intern Dr. Armaan in Star One’s Dill Mill Gayye, where his on screen chemistry with Shilpa Anand aka Riddhima has been one of the highs of the serial.

But now, as Shilpa Anand makes way for Sukriti Khandpal to play the new Riddhima, Karan talks about his amazing rapport with Shilpa and the level of comfort that he is now giving Sukriti…

You are now going to be paired with a new Riddhima, Sukriti Khandpal. How does it feel?
Well, I am trying to adjust and also trying my best to make Sukriti as comfortable as I can. In fact I spoke to her and told her that we have to keep the intensity of the show high and probably take it higher. My main agenda as of now is to make her comfortable on the sets and make her feel that she is part of our big family. I just do not want her to feel left out.

Are you going to miss Shilpa Anand on the sets?
Well, as Karan I will definitely miss Shilpa a lot as we have almost been living together shooting in Kanjurmarg for long hours everyday. I think in the last one year, I have spent more time with Shilpa than anybody else. But as Dr.Armaan, I feel that I have got a new Dr. Riddhima and I am very happy about it.

Are you all planning to give Shilpa a farewell party?
Yes, Shilpa had thought of throwing a farewell party at her home but since her close friend is not keeping well, we have not had time for that. But I am sure when her friend is fit and fine, we will have a blast!!

Do you think the show will have similar TRP’s with Sukriti coming in?
To be very honest and frank, I try and keep myself away from the TRP game. As an actor, I feel that I should give my 100% and live up to people’s expectations.

How important is your co-actor for you?
If it was a one person show, then the co-actor wouldn’t have made much difference, but in a love story like Dill Mill Gayye, my co-star becomes very important. My whole acceptance with the audience depends on the co- actor. It was Shilpa and I sharing the burden on our shoulders before, now it is up to me and Sukriti to keep our fans at the edge of their seats. I am very confident she will be liked by everyone.

We heard that your girlfriend Shraddha Nigam was to take up the role of Dr. Riddhima. Is there any truth to it?
Well, it’s true that she was considered. I am bit disappointed that Shraddha didn’t take it, but when it comes to decisions like these, it is not just me and Shraddha to decide. There are lots of people who have to approve of this casting. In fact I and Shraddha would love to work together. I think it will be great if in any future shows, we both get the opportunity to work together. I really miss her because I am not able to give much time for her. But I make it a point that after pack-up everyday, I rush home to see her for 10 minutes and then go to sleep!!! (Blushes)

Interview of Sukriti Kandpal

Dill Mill Gayee has a new family member in the form of Dr. Riddhima! Sukirti Khandpal, the petite and gorgeous, takes on the new challenge from Shilpa Anand and promises to keep the audiences entertained with her role as Dr. Riddhima.

So we caught up with Sukirti to find out about her new role…

~ About this new role…
I will be playing Riddhima who is a doctor. A simple and cute girl. This role is different from that of what I played in Jersey. And this difference in roles is something that I like playing.

~ How is the shooting going...
It is going really well and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Am slowly getting into the groove.

~ What was the reason to replace the character?
I am not sure about that but I guess Shilpa had some personal reasons…

~ How did you feel when you were approached?
I felt really nice. It feels great to work with the production house that you are familiar with and it all the more makes you feel confident.

~ What made you accept the role which is replacing someone?
It doesn’t matter to me, I just took it up. There is no reason as such. I believe in my creativity and confidence level…And the theme is also good, so why not?

~ This role should be all the more challenging because you will have to match with the original character…Is it challenging?
May be…If you look at it from the audience point of view, it takes a while to get them used to it. In this industry, replacements happen and it is natural that these comparisons arise. Anyways I will give my best and the rest is left to the audience.

~ How is your rapport with your co stars...
It is been good to work with them. Infact everyone gave me a nice warm welcome. I should mention that Karan has been really sweet. Overall everyone is being very supportive and co-operative which is all the more helping me feel comfortable.

~ How is your chemistry with Karan on screen...Have you been able to share a better chemistry than Shilpa?
You should be asking Karan about it…I feel that the chemistry is quite good. But I cannot really compare with Shilpa because we are two different people. And Karan and I share a good comfort zone with each other.

~ What is next?? Your future plans…
Right now I am focusing on Dill Mill Gayee and would like to concentrate on what I have for the time being. If there are good projects my way then I will surely take them up.

~ TV/Films
Doesn’t matter to me. It all depends on the kind of offers and the subject matter which I will look into…

~ Any dream roles…
I do not have any specific dream role as such but I believe in giving variety to the audience. So I prefer doing different roles and like to give my fullest in whatever I do
